Way beyond just a shoe store. I think of this store and MJ Tamondong in particular as being akin to a medical service. MJ's knowledge of feet, gait, posture and shoes as well as his guidance on why a person might be experiencing pain and how to remedy it has been far superior to any experience I've had with any shoe store in my 40 years on this planet.

When I need shoes, I come to MJ.

When my mom had foot problems, we waited until she visited from Washington State and then brought her to MJ.

When my niece, who runs long distance was having foot pain, we brought her to MJ.

When a friend who was visiting from New Zealand complained about foot pain, we brought him to MJ.

In every case, MJ helped diagnose the problem (Shoes were too small, arch support was inappropriate, laces were too tight for the high instep etc.) and every time the situation improved -- usually drastically.

I had been plagued by foot pain for years prior to a visit to MJ. I have not had the same problems since he put me in proper shoes with proper support. It has been 2 years.

My friend from New Zealand was similarly crippled by foot pain, and again a short visit with MJ helped him figure out what was wrong and how to fix it. He has now been pain free for nearly six months and sends his love of this shop from the other side of the planet.

I can't recommend MJ and On The Run highly enough.
